Honey Oatmeal Bread

This bread can be served with almost any meal, but we especially like toasted slices for breakfast!  The honey adds subtle sweetness, and the oatmeal gives it some bulk.  It's a yummy alternative to standard white bread!

Ingredients:
1 1/4 C water, lukewarm
1/2 C honey
2 Tbsp vegetable oil
1 C quick-cooking oats
1 1/2 tsp salt
3 C plus 2 Tbsp bread flour
2 1/4 tsp active dry yeast

Directions:
Place all ingredients in your bread machine in the order recommended by the manufacturer.  If no order is specified, place ingredients in machine in order listed above.  Select the basic bread setting and lightest crust setting on your machine.  If loaf size is an option, select 1 1/2 lb loaf.  Press start.  Remove when cycle is complete and cool on a wire rack.

Options and Tips
  • This is probably the only bread that I do NOT take out of the machine early.  I need to leave it in for the full cycle or the top stays gooey.
