Pull-Apart Herb Biscuits

[This recipe was originally posted in conjunction with the Meijer Ad week of 9/9/12-9/15/12]

An easy combination of herbs and spices transforms plain biscuits into something special! These biscuits are oven-ready in five minutes, and are a delicious accompaniment to any meal.  In my house, they're cause for arguments over who gets the last few pieces!
Ingredients:
1 - 12 oz tube buttermilk biscuits, cut into quarters
1/4 C (4 Tbsp) melted margarine OR butter
2 Tbsp grated Parmesan cheese
1 Tbsp sesame seeds
1 Tbsp parsley
1 tsp basil
1/2 tsp oregano
1/2 tsp thyme

Directions:
Preheat oven to 450 degrees.  Mix together the melted margarine, Parmesan cheese, and all herbs/spices.  Place half of the biscuit quarters into a mixing bowl.  Drizzle half the margarine/spice mixture over top, and repeat.  Stir together carefully, and transfer to an ungreased 8 or 9 inch round cake pan.  Bake, uncovered, at 450 degrees for 9-12 minutes or until golden brown.  Invert onto a large dinner plate and serve immediately.

Options and Tips:
  • Cutting up biscuits with a kitchen scissors is a perfect job for the kids!
  • When you are stirring the biscuit pieces with the margarine/spice mixture, the biscuit pieces will start sticking together.  They don't all have to be separated, but if there's a solid block of a bunch of them, the margarine mixture won't get between the pieces...so use a fork to separate a few of them.  Just make sure that each piece has at least a little bit of the spice mixture on it.
This is a slightly-modified version of a recipe I received from my sister-in-law, Jill Kregel.
