Here are a few recipes that use ingredients from next week's Meijer ad:

Honey Oatmeal Bread

This bread can be served with almost any meal, but we especially like toasted slices for breakfast!  The honey adds subtle sweetness, and the oatmeal gives it some bulk.  It's a yummy alternative to standard white bread!

Cinnamon Rolls

There's nothing better than a freshly baked cinnamon roll slathered with cream cheese frosting!  It's a much-appreciated Sunday morning treat at our house.  Cinnamon rolls are my favorite bread machine recipe...I love the process and the delicious result.

Creme de Menthe Cake

This refreshing dessert is as easy as it is delicious.  The three layers come together quickly, thanks to convenience items.

Appetizer Pizza

This pizza is a nice change of pace from traditional pepperoni or supreme.  It can be served as an entree, but the flavor is extremely rich, so I cut it into strips and serve it as an appetizer.

Almost Cactus Bread (Dessert Pizza)

If you only need one main-dish pizza, dessert pizza is a great (and delicious!) use for that second pizza crust.  My recipe is based on a copycat recipe for Pizza Ranch's cactus bread.  I tried it per the suggestion of the same person who gave me that great pizza crust recipe, but we both decided that it needed a little adjustment.  It still doesn't LOOK the same as that Pizza Ranch specialty, but the flavor is pretty close to the mouth-watering original!

Breadmaker Breadsticks

How about some breadsticks to go with your pizza?  These are absolutely amazing!  They're so soft that they practically melt in your mouth.  I made them last night for the first time, and I'll definitely be making them again.  Bake them while you top your pizza, and they'll still be warm when your pizza comes out of the oven.

Perfect Pizza Crust...and Tips for Perfect Pizza

It took me many years to find a good recipe for homemade pizza crust!  This recipe (and most of the tips) came from a friend who used to work at a pizza joint.  No wonder it was a success!

Banana Bread

If you don't have a bread machine, then quick breads and muffins are for you.  Banana bread is probably the most common kind of quick bread...most likely because we all have old bananas sitting around at one time or another.  I know there are lots of banana bread recipes out there, but give this one a try...you probably won't go back to your old recipe!

Parmesan Italian Loaf

Here's another variation on the white bread recipe.  This dense, flavorful loaf is delicious with any meal, and the slices also make fabulous grilled cheese sandwiches.

Fresh From the Farmer's Market: Strawberry Pie

If life throws you strawberries, make strawberry pie!  (OK, you can all groan together now; I know that wasn't very funny!)  Strawberry season came early around here this year as a result of a few warm weeks this spring.  In spite of some frost damage in our area, the berries are still abundant at produce stands and in U-pick fields.  My sister-in-laws and I agreed that they're not quite as sweet as usual this year, but still a welcome change from the berries shipped in from across the country.  There are so many things you can do with strawberries, but there's nothing quite like the simple sweetness of a fresh strawberry pie.  Enjoy!

Cheddar Herb Bread

Time to change up the white bread recipe again!  Subtract a little salt and sugar, add some spices and cheese, and voila, you have a beautiful, delicious loaf of Cheddar Herb Bread.  This bread pairs perfectly with almost any main course, but is especially delicious alongside Italian food.

Cinnamon Swirl Bread

Homemade cinnamon bread is easy to make, and SO much cheaper than store-bought.  Use the recipe for basic white bread (or your own favorite white bread recipe) and the dough setting on your breadmaker.  Roll out the dough, sprinkle with cinnamon/sugar, let it rise, and bake it.  Less than 10 minutes of "hands on" time creates a delicious loaf of sweet bread!

Breadmaker White Bread

This recipe came in a booklet with my original breadmaker, and it's still my favorite white bread recipe.  Any recipes that I create for the breadmaker are based on this basic one.  Try it today, and later this week we'll change it up a bit!  

Using Your Breadmaker

Heads up:  If you think you'll be trying some of "my" yeast bread recipes, hop on over to Meijer and pick up a jar each of active dry yeast and bread machine yeast.  It's on price drop until June 10...$3.19 for 4 oz instead of $4.99.  This is a rare occurence, so I bought quite a few jars and I'm freezing them.
