A Day in the Life of a Blogger's Kitchen

I'm sure you were all waiting on pins and needles for the latest recipe and the Recipe Round-up from Cooking Up a Sale.  However, the blog editor is taking the weekend off from blogging :)

I'm not, however, taking the weekend off from cooking.  In fact, I did spent so much time in the kitchen today that I ran out of time to blog.  Some of you have suggested that I post my weekly meal plans on the blog...and although I don't have time to post what I'm planning for next week, I'll at least show you what I made today.  This is just for fun, and I don't plan to make this a regular feature.  (By way of explanation, Sunday coffee is here tomorrow, so I don't normally crank all of this food out of my kitchen in one day!)

This cake.  Well, sort of.  I made it with pineapple cake mix, apricot jello, and coconut cream pudding.  So, Tropical Refrigerator Cake???  I'll let you know how it turns out.

Cake Mix Bars (recipe coming someday).

Zucchini Bread (no recipe or picture, sorry!)

Overnight French Toast (This is for our Sunday morning breakfast before church.  I've made this before and I highly recommend it!)

I also thawed some "fundraiser subs" and then doctored them up.  I spread a scraping of butter/margarine and some yellow mustard on each one, and then sprinkled on some dried minced onion and poppyseeds.  I wrapped them in foil, and while we're cleaning up the coffee-time dishes tomorrow, I'll bake them for a quick and easy lunch.

Yes, I could have made some of this stuff ahead of time.  But I knew I'd be home all day today, and I worked fast, so I didn't actually spend ALL day in the kitchen :)  I even managed to sit down and watch most of Michigan vs. VCU!

Have a good weekend, everyone!
Lisa

  1. Wow, Lisa, you WERE busy in the kitchen! What is the coffee time you're hosting--something with church?

I made snickerdoodles today--haven't made them in probably a couple years! Eric requested them. I also made potato soup, which I will heat up in the crockpot tomorrow before church. Love it.
